What a wonderful week filled with all things wedding-related! For a helpless romantic like myself, I’ve been in heaven. Clearly so have millions of others who watched the funny wedding dance on YouTube (12 million views so far! Way to go JK in St Paul, Minnesota!) and tuned in to ABC to see who the lovely and elegant Bachelorette Jillian Harris would give the final rose and say “Yes!” to (Ed Swiderski was the lucky guy who proposed and placed the Neil Lane diamond engagement ring on Jillian’s left hand).
And since all things seem to happen in threes, it was serendipitous that the launch of the Robbins Brothers commercials and video set to Donavon Frankenreiter’s song “Lovely Day” took place this week, too.
Hmmmm. I wonder how many couples are thinking the universe (or an impatient mother?) might be telling them it’s finally time to start looking at diamond engagement rings and taking dance lessons for their own wedding…
It’s gonna be a lovely day.

I just can’t get enough of the wonderful couples and the ultra-romantic surprise marriage proposals that are featured in our new Robbins Brothers television commercials! Last night the spots ran in Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight, Two and a Half Men, and TMZ, and this morning I saw them on Good Morning America, Today, KTLA Morning News and Fox Channel 11. The reactions to the proposals are priceless and they sure do brighten up my day, even after seeing them many, many times.
The last five seconds of each spot features a gorgeous diamond ring from one of the many designers you’ll find at Robbins Brothers. The initial spots include a beautiful A. Jaffe ring, a dazzling Simon G. ring, and in the three minute music video that has the full-length version of Donavon Frankenreiter’s “Lovely Day” you’ll see a classic ring by designer by Scott Kay. The designer rings are usually available in either platinum, white gold, yellow gold or pallaldium, and at Robbins Brothers you’ll get to personally select the center diamond for your engagement ring.
Make it a Lovely Day!

July 27, 2009 — Today Robbins Brothers, The Engagement Ring Store, launched a fun and emotional marketing campaign that features heartwarming real-life marriage proposals from YouTube. 30 second spots are running in the morning news, mid-day shows, and during the prime-access hour on stations in Los Angeles, San Diego and Dallas. The interactive part of the campaign invites couples to share their marriage proposal video for a chance to star in a future television commerical. Musician, singer and surf legend Donavon Frankenreiter’s song “Lovely Day” sets the tone for the TV spots as well as a three minute video that can be seen on Robbins Brothers website and on YouTube.
Special thanks to the creative agency, G&M Plumbing, and to the media buying agency, Revolution Media, both headquartered in Los Angeles, California.
Welcome to the rest of your life.

Shannon, our engagement ring director, and Amy and Samantha, our talented buyers, certainly made the most of their visit to the JCK show that took place in Las Vegas last month. Despite the miles of walking required each day at the largest jewelry show in the world (jewelry exhibitors take up 1.2 million square feet at the Sands Expo Center) the team had a precise action plan which included specific designers to visit and lists of styles requested by our Robbins Brothers customers.
At the recent engagement ring “style out” at the secret location, Mai Wong, a manager in our Montclair store, met with the buying team and spent hours noting details of various engagement ring style. Mai mentioned to me that the bezel side diamonds design was one of her favorites, and believes it will be popular with her clientele. The wedding sets (matching engagement ring and wedding band) presented had outstanding price points as well. The recession is causing everyone to be a little more frugal, and the rings with a big look and a modest price point will likely be big hits in Southern California, Mai predicts. (A little known fact about the lovely Mai Wong: Snoop Dog is a two-time client of hers, and she affectionately refers to him as “Mr. Snoopy.”)
Don’t forget: become a fan of Robbins Brothers on Facebook today and you’ll be the first to know about exciting contests this summer!
Adieu for now,

(A very sad day for MJ fans, but he’d be the first to say the show must go on, so here goes Part 3!)
The first two blog postings commented on wraps (literally diamond rings that wrap around a diamond solitaire, creating a completely new and fresh look for your ring), stunning modern settings that I think are perfect for the MSID diamond, and some very chic engagement rings that consist of interlocking diamond circles.
Our engagement ring buying team at Robbins Brothers (Shannon, Samantha & Amy) know that many women want a ring that is totally unique and even offers a little surprise. The buyers brought back a collection of dainty styles with micropave diamonds (my favorite) that will surely please anyone receiving a marriage proposal later this year. The “surprise” in one of the rings, when viewed from the side, is the shape of a flower surrounding the center diamond. So hard to describe, so beautiful in person!
I had the chance to sit with Keith Davis, our General Manager at the Robbins Brothers in Riverside, California, and he was equally excited about the micropave diamond settings. He said that his clientele will love the white gold engagement ring mountings and the wedding sets (the engagement ring with a matching diamond band), with just about any size center diamond.
Check back for Part 4 of the Robbins Brothers Engagement Ring Trends for 2009. In the meantime, check out the gorgeous platinum, palladium and gold diamond engagement rings by Tacori, Scott Kay, Simon G., Jeff Coooper, A. Jaffe and Coast Diamond, just to name a few of the designers we carry.

Engagement Ring Trends for 2009
July 6, 2009 – My last blog offered a little teaser for those of you who currently own or desire a Robbins Brothers MSID diamond. If you’ve seen this diamond in person and compared it with a regular diamond, you’ll know that it deserves a magnificient setting to really show off its beauty and brilliance. The buyers found the most amazing engagement ring settings (also known as “mountings”) that will frame the MSID just as the right frame brings out all of the features of an original painting. If I were picking out my engagement ring today, I might select one of the new bold and modern settings for the MSID diamond. (If you like the Tiffany Bezel Lucida, you must come in and try on the A Jaffe bezel style we have at Robbins Brothers.)
If you’re a believer of eternal love, you’ll want to check out the engagement ring settings with bands of interlocking diamond circles that draw the eye to the center diamond.
Heart set on something that delivers the “wow” factor? You must try on the five-stone ring with oval diamonds. Absolutely stunning, and if you’re already married, consider asking for this ring as an anniversary present!
Make an appointment to visit Robbins Brothers this week and try on several engagement ring styles and save your favorites to your personal wish list.
