Robbins Bros. Engages Tony Romo…A Reflection

Steve Robbins & Tony Romo

As Robbins Bros., World’s Biggest Engagement Ring Store® in Dallas prepares for its one-year anniversary next month, staff members, family and friends can’t help but to reflect on last year’s grand opening soiree which included red-hot Dallas Cowboy Tony Romo, a bedazzling “Denim & Diamonds” fashion show, a tear-jerking in-store marriage proposal, and an exciting silent auction which raised funds for the Salvation Army. And the icing on the cake, following the fashion show Steve Robbins, Chairman and CEO, gave Tony Romo marriage proposal tips!

This year the store is planning a more low-key celebration; perhaps an elegant mixer with the local Chamber of Commerce. Robbins Bros. is also gearing up for the busy holiday season in which onsite Perfect Proposals™ experts will engage thousands of couples in the Dallas area. And lastly, locals can look forward to a new Robbins Bros. location set to open in the first quarter of 2008 in Arlington Highlands Center at Interstate 20 and Matlock Road.

Couple in Love wins $10,000 Diamond Ring Courtesy of Robbins Bros.

José & BrendaSAN DIEGO, Calif., Oct. 10, 2007 – José Vargas, a resident of Tijuana, Mexico, was certain he was on the wrong end of a practical joke when he received an e-mail from a representative with Robbins Bros., World’s Biggest Engagement Ring Store®, notifying him that he had been selected as the grand prize winner of a 2-carat Echo Diamond ring valued at $10,000. He and his wife Brenda quickly learned his good fortune was for real.

It all began a few months back when José was searching the Robbins Bros. web site with plans to upgrade Brenda’s quarter carat diamond wedding ring and surprise her for their one year anniversary in July. He came across the jeweler’s enticing online sweepstakes offering a chance to win a brilliant Echo Diamond, which is exclusively designed for Robbins Bros. and has 98 facets which allows the diamond to shine like a star. José quickly completed the simple sweepstakes entry form and then continued his search for a ring, not knowing that Lady Luck was near.

After receiving the e-mail announcing he had won the Echo Diamond, José contacted the Robbins Bros. store in San Diego and requested to speak with a store manager to see if he in fact had won a prize. Danny Smith, sales manager for the San Diego store, assured José he was indeed the winner and that a diamond valued at $10,000 had his name on it.

José & Brenda“He was nearly in tears when he found out the spectacular news,” said Smith. “It was even more moving when he told me that this was equivalent to winning the lottery and was the greatest thing that had ever happened to him and his wife.”

José and Brenda met nine years ago and dated for six years before he proposed. He originally bought her a quarter carat engagement ring from Robbins Bros., which according to José, made Brenda happier than she could ever imagine. The couple was engaged for two years before they finally tied the knot in July 2006. José was planning on upgrading her ring on their first anniversary but things didn’t work out as planned but definitely for the better.

“When we found out that we were indeed the winners, we couldn’t speak,” said Brenda Vargas. “We just laughed and when we finally calmed down we called our parents to tell them the big news.”

On Sunday, Sept. 30, Brenda and José drove up from their hometown of Tijuana, Mexico to San Diego to collect their fabulous prize and little did they know that the Robbins Bros. team had a few other plans in store for the couple. Smith knew that this would be a special moment in the couple’s life and that their visit needed to be memorable. When the couple arrived, Robbins Bros. had chilled sparkling cider in preparation for a toast and had a professional photographer on hand to capture the special moment. Staff members also assisted the couple with building a personal web page on the Robbins Bros. web site with news of their good fortune along with photos. Web site. In addition, Robbins Bros. made special dinner reservations for the couple to further celebrate their first anniversary and the new ring. The in-store visit ended when the staff conducted their traditional ringing of the bells, which is done when the Robbins Bros. team wants to share a special announcement with everyone in the store.

“Thank you Robbins Bros. for this wonderful gift,” said Brenda Vargas. “It’s the perfect way to celebrate our first year of marriage!”

“We are honored to be a part of this special AIDS Project LA fundraising endeavor,” comments Robbins. “The Robbins Bros. business culture believes in giving back to the community and it’s a privilege we’re able to link two worthy causes: AIDS Walk LA and Water Giving Water. The whole company is really excited about this event. We’re ready to walk!”
